HEBER CITY — A man died and five other people were transported for injuries Sunday afternoon after a three-vehicle crash in Heber City, troopers say.
A gray GMC pickup truck was southbound on state Route 189 shortly after 3:30 p.m. when it crossed over into northbound traffic near 3000 South, Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Michael Gordon said. The GMC then side-swiped a Ford pickup and hit a Volvo SUV head-on, according to a UHP statement.
Medical helicopters were dispatched, but the man who was the driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene, Gordon said.
Five other people were transported to hospitals for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. Information on what those injuries were or which vehicles they were in was not released.
S.R. 189 was closed temporarily Sunday while the UHP and the Utah State Bureau of Investigation interviewed witnesses and conducted an investigation. Traffic was diverted through Midway and Charleston.
The identities of those involved were not released.
