SALT LAKE CITY — Drivers on I-80 heading from Salt Lake City to Park City were stuck in delays of over an hour on Monday morning after a vehicle rollover crash closed the freeway for a time.
UHP trooper Mikki Vargas said the vehicle went off the left side of eastbound I-80 near the Lamb's Canyon exit (mile marker 136) around 6:20 a.m., then rolled and landed on its roof. The driver had to be extricated and flown from the scene by a medical helicopter.
I-80 was closed while the helicopter was on the scene, and intermittently after that. Backups extended over 6 miles to the mouth of the canyon as of 9 a.m. and 5 miles as of 10 a.m. UDOT reported at 10:47 a.m. that all lanes have fully reopened.
