PROVO — One man has been arrested following an argument at a Provo gas station that started over the color of clothing and ended with a barrage of gunfire.

Alejandro Antonio Molina-Ballesteros, 19, of Magna, was booked into the Utah County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of attempted murder and discharge of a firearm.

The incident happened June 18 at a gas station, 900 W. Center Street. Police say Molina-Ballesteros was arguing with another group near the front doors of the gas station.

"A witness stated they were arguing over the color of clothing they were wearing," according to a police affidavit.

After the argument, Molina-Ballesteros got into his car, drove as far as the end of the parking lot, then got back out of his car and fired six rounds at the others, the affidavit states. Two shots hit a vehicle that contained people he had been arguing with, while three bullets hit a minivan in the parking lot that a woman was sitting in.

"One bullet struck the tire, one struck the door just below the window where the victim was sitting and shattering her driver side window, and the last bullet struck the top of her van," according to the affidavit.

A final shot hit the gas station.

"After attempting to murder the victims, he got back into his vehicle and fled the scene without checking on anyone who may have been struck by his bullets," police wrote in the affidavit.

No serious injuries were reported. Details on how officers tracked down Molina-Ballesteros were not immediately available. Police have requested Molina-Ballesteros be held in the Utah County Jail without bail.
