Bennion Creek Fire is 10% contained; red flag warning remains in effect

Fire officials said Tuesday night that the Bennion Creek Fire burning northwest of Scofield Reservoir on the Manti-La Sal National Forest is 10% contained. "Partly cloudy weather today helped keep the fire's heat and growth lower than in previous days," officials said in a news release.A red flag warning has been extended through June 16 due to extreme drought conditions in over 90% of Utah, officials said. Fire officials advise the public to drive with caution due to the smoke in surrounding communities along U.S. Highway 6 and to avoid the area when possible.The Aspen Cove subdivision remained evacuated and will be reevaluated on Wednesday night.— Ashley Fredde, KSL.com

Spring Fire progression in Sanpete County stopped

Fire officials said that the progression of the Spring Fire in Sanpete County has been stopped. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but fire officials said they are optimistic there will be no growth overnight.Camp Tifie and a home were evacuated earlier in the evening as a precaution.— Ashley Fredde, KSL.com

Spring Fire in Sanpete County causes evacuations of 500 Boy Scouts

A new fire forced the evacuation of approximately 500 Boy Scouts from a camp in Sanpete County Tuesday afternoon.Named the Spring Fire, it is located east of Spring City in northern Sanpete County and is currently estimated at 5 to 10 acres.Camp Tifie, located near Mount Pleasant, has been evacuated.— Ashley Fredde, KSL.com
