SOUTH JORDAN — A man died Tuesday after a trench collapsed at a construction site in South Jordan.

The accident took place about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday near 6000 W. Moon Valley Drive in the Daybreak Highland Park neighborhood, according to South Jordan Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Leffner.

Fire crews from Unified Fire Authority and South Jordan responded to the area on a report of a trench collapse. When they arrived, they found a man who was not responding.

Construction crews were trying to revive the man when emergency personnel arrived, but the man died at the scene, Leffner said. He was not identified.

One other person was transported to a hospital as a precaution, Leffner said.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
