ALPINE — Two people are in critical condition after a car crashed into a tree along the scenic Alpine Loop road Saturday, authorities say.
Two of the car's occupants were ejected and are in critical condition, while one received only minor injuries, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Nikki Vargas said.
One of the patients was transported via air ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, and two more were transported by ground ambulance to two different hospitals, Vargas said. State Route 92 was closed at Tibble Fork Junction for approximately three hours before reopening late Saturday morning.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The direction the car was heading and the reason it left the road are unclear.
The genders and ages of the victims have not been reported by authorities.
