ST. GEORGE — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Mathis Park in St. George.
Ryan Allen Pringle, 18, was arrested Thursday for investigation of aggravated assault and four counts of felony discharge of a firearm.
On May 16, St. George police were called to Mathis Park on a report of a shooting. Shell casings were found at the scene, according to a police affidavit.
While police were conducting their investigation at the park, a car with four men arrived a local hospital. One of the men, 20, was shot in the back, the affidavit states.
Detectives conducting interviews at the hospital learned that a man named "Ryan" was the possible shooter and that the victim "used to hang out with Ryan Pringle" but cut ties with him after learning that Pringle dealt drugs, leading to some animosity between the two, according to the affidavit.
Another witness told police that more than 10 people had gone to the park where the victim and Pringle were going to fight, and during the altercation, Pringle pulled out a gun and fired several rounds, the affidavit states.
Pringle was pulled over during a traffic stop Wednesday and booked into jail early Thursday.
