SPANISH FORK — U.S. Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon reopened early Monday after a fatal crash Sunday night shut the road for five hours, officials say.
About 9 p.m., an eastbound Chevy Silverado crossed into oncoming lanes of the highway about one mile east of Diamond Fork Road and collided head-on with a Chevy Cruze, UHP said.
A 32-year-old man who was a passenger in the Cruze died in the crash. His name has not yet been released.
The driver of the Cruze and a passenger in the Silverado were taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The driver of the Silverado received minor injuries.
Eastbound U.S. 6 was closed at Canyon Road and westbound U.S. 6 was closed at the U.S. 89 juncture, according to tweets from the Utah Department of Transportation. The road reopened at 2:09 a.m., UHP said.
