SARATOGA SPRINGS — A man accused of scamming multiple people across Utah County has been arrested by American Fork and Saratoga Springs police, officials said.
Jessie Miller was arrested on Monday after it was reported he had been involved in multiple cases of fraud and scams, according to a Saratoga Springs Police Department press release.
Police said that it was reported Miller would offer to repair auto body damage and be paid for the work without completing it. Miller reportedly would then cut off contact with the owners of the vehicles.
It was also reported that Miller was involved in several cases where he and his family would move into a rental or apartment and fail to pay rent. When Miller and the occupants were finally evicted, the owners found that the properties had been purposefully left in an uninhabitable state, according to police.
Police reminded citizens in the release that to avoid being victims of scams they should avoid agreeing to pay anyone who approaches them promising to repair auto body damage at a discounted rate.
"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is," officials said in the release.
Police also cautioned citizens to be careful who they lease properties out to.
