MYTON, Duchesne County — The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Myton.

Keith Nelson Broadwater, 46, was booked into the Duchesne County Jail Thursday for investigation of murder and carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence.

Deputies were called just before 1 a.m. to a residence at 120 E. 100 North in Myton on a report of a "gunshot incident," according to a police affidavit.

When law enforcers arrived, they learned that Broadwater had gotten into an argument with another man that "escalated to Keith shooting" the victim, the affidavit states. "Keith contacted central dispatch shortly after the incident and stated he shot his friend."

Deputies were told that Broadwater "had been drinking all day," according to the affidavit.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.
