SARATOGA SPRINGS — A car crash in Saratoga Springs on Saturday afternoon resulted in an 18-year-old woman being flown to the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Pioneer Crossing and Riverside Drive and briefly closed eastbound traffic on Pioneer Crossing at Redwood, the City of Saratoga Springs confirmed on Facebook.

The woman was driving a small passenger vehicle and turned off of Pioneer Crossing at an intersection without a traffic light; a large pickup truck traveling east on Pioneer Crossing T-boned the small car, Saratoga Springs Police Cpl. Carl Harner stated. Police received reports of the accident about 5 p.m., and the Utah County Sheriff's Office, as well as Saratoga Springs and Lehi police responded, Haner said.

The woman, who police say is from Eagle Mountain, was transported via medical helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital, Haner said. First responders believed the accident would turn into a fatality, but Harner said the woman was in stable condition with serious head and upper body injuries Saturday night.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and stayed at the scene of the accident with police, Haner said. The roads were closed for approximately two and a half hours but have since reopened.

Correction: A previous version stated the large pickup truck was traveling west when the crash occurred; it was traveling east.
