SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health is reporting 404 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Saturday.

The report continues a string of high case counts that have marked a recent rise in coronavirus cases in Utah. The state has not seen fewer than 200 cases in one day since May 28.

Twenty-four new hospitalizations were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed hospital patients with coronavirus to 132. There are 104 patients hospitalized as "COVID-19 persons under investigation."

Due to differences in reporting practices, hospitalization numbers may take 5 days to be updated.

No new deaths were reported Saturday, keeping the state's total at 139.

In total, Utah has now confirmed 13,981 cases of COVID-19, up from 13,577 cases the day before.

The state reported the results of 3,996 additional tests over Friday's numbers; at least 262,782 tests have now been conducted in the state for a positive rate of 5.3%.

About 8,114 Utahns are estimated to have recovered from COVID-19.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is encouraging Utahns to stay vigilant and to wear face coverings in public. Most of the state is at the yellow level on the state's risk dial, but Salt Lake City remains at orange risk and Kane County has now moved to green, the lowest risk level in the state's metrics.

In Salt Lake County, total cases Saturday increased by 206 to 7,148. The Bear River Health District, where a meat processing facility created hundreds of new cases last week, reported only 28 new cases overnight.
