SALT LAKE CITY — The FBI is offering a reward up to $5,000 for the arrest and conviction of a man wanted in connection with an assault on a federal officer.

Cecil Vijil Jr. is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen in Aneth, Utah, on the Navajo Nation land.

An FBI special agent and a San Juan County Sheriff's deputy went to Vijil's house as part of an investigation. Vijil allegedly fired multiple rounds at the special agent and deputy, according to a statement from the FBI. No one was injured.

A warrant has been issued for Vijil's arrest. He is being investigated for assaulting a federal officer and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 reward as well.

Anyone with any information on Vijil's whereabouts should call 911, their local law enforcement agency or the FBI at 801-579-1400.
