MILLCREEK — Unified police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Millcreek Monday morning.

Police were called about 7:50 a.m. on a report of a man on the sidewalk in front of an apartment complex at 229 E. Hill Ave. (4050 South). Responding officers found Tevita Laloni, 32, of Salt Lake City, dead of at least one gunshot, said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.

A woman claimed she had just stepped outside and found the body, according to Gray. But as detectives began sorting through what happened, they learned that her apartment may be connected to the case.

Police were waiting for a search warrant to be approved to go into the apartment. No arrests have been made.

Gray said investigators believe the victim was likely shot at another location and not where he was found.
