MILLCREEK — A 5-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle in Millcreek on Sunday night, police said.

Police were called to the area of 2300 East and Neff Lane about 8:15 p.m., where the boy and his older brother had been riding bikes and scooters down the street, said Unified police detective Kevin Mallory.

A car driving down the street, which Mallory described as “pretty poorly lit,” didn’t see the boys until it was too late. The driver swerved to avoid the older boy and didn’t see the 5-year-old, Mallory said.

The child’s name was not immediately released.

The driver, who is a neighbor of the boys’ family, stayed at the scene and was cooperating with officers, Mallory said.
