ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES NAMED

NEW YORK (AP) — Two of the biggest names inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year — are no longer with us. The two most recognizable artists among the new inductees are Whitney Houston and The Notorious B.I.G. And they are two of the four artists who were inducted in their first year of eligibility. The other two getting in on the first try are the Doobie Brothers and T-Rex. Other inductees this year are Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails.

The annual induction ceremony will take place May 2 in Cleveland.

CNN DRAWS FIRE FOR DEBATE QUESTION TO SANDERS

NEW YORK (AP) — CNN is catching flak for how it handled the rift between Democratic presidential rivals Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. During the debate last night, a CNN moderator seemed to brush off Sanders’ denial that he had told rival Elizabeth Warren that a woman couldn’t win a presidential election. Abby Phillip asked Sanders if he said what Warren said he did. After Sanders denied making the comment, she asked Warren what she thought “when Senator Sanders told you that a woman could not win an election.” Some in the audience laughed and Sanders shook his head. Sanders supporters say Phillip’s question implied she believed Sanders was lying in his denial.

TYLER PERRY - ACADEMY AWARDS

NEW YORK (AP) — Thinking about launching protests and firing up hashtags over the lack of diversity among this year’s Oscar nominees? Tyler Perry says, in effect, don’t waste your breath — or characters. The director says the movie industry isn’t going to change — so there’s no sense complaining about it.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN - JURY SELECTION

NEW YORK (AP) — It’s day seven — and counting — in the effort to seat a jury for the Harvey Weinstein rape trial in New York. Some prospective jury members are due for a second round of questioning after passing muster the first time around. The judge is trying to find enough members of the jury pool who can put aside their personal feelings about the disgraced movie producer — and judge the case on the facts that will be presented in court.

KEN JENNINGS WINS “JEOPARDY!” CHAMPS PLAYOFF

NEW YORK (AP) — You could be forgiven if you watched the “Jeopardy!” playoff — and thought you were watching the World Series of Poker, instead. The eventual winner Ken Jennings is the reason for the confusion. He made several all-or-nothing bids during the competition. And to further enhance his gambling chops, he’d make a gesture like the one made by poker players who slide their entire stack of chips to the center of the table, indicating they’re “all in.” Jennings pockets $1 million for his efforts.

ACTRESS FACING TRIAL IN STABBING DEATH OF MOTHER

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A judge in Kansas City, Missouri has ruled that an actress must have a mental evaluation before she could face trial in the stabbing death of her mother. Mollie Fitzgerald is charged with second-degree murder in her mom’s death; the actress says it was self-defense. Court records include Fitzgerald’s 911 call in which she tells police her mom was trying to kill her when she took a knife from her. But medical examiners found no evidence to support her self-defense claim. Fitzgerald had an itsy-bitsy role in “Captain America: The First Avenger."

ESTRANGED FATHER OF MEGHAN MAY TESTIFY IN LAWSUIT

LONDON (AP) — Another day, another drama for the British royal family. The estranged father of Meghan Markle may end up testifying against the royal clan in a lawsuit against a British tabloid. Meghan is suing the Mail on Sunday newspaper for publishing a letter she wrote to her dad. The newspaper says it might call Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, to defend against the copyright violation claim. All this comes alongside word that Markle and her husband, Prince Harry plan to drop out of full-time royal duties — and spend half their time in Canada.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER TRYING TO PAWN VAN HALEN GUITAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man has been arrested after he tried to pawn a red California SG electric guitar signed by the rock band Van Halen. Police say the man stole the guitar — and tried to pawn it off for $200. The axe is valued at more than $2,000. The guitar is among several guitars signed by Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, U2 and Paul McCartney — and owned by Jack Baker. Baker says he had moved them from his condo to a storage unit for safekeeping — only to see them swiped from the unit.
