MIDVALE — Police have released the name of a woman found dead in a Midvale motel room.
Unified police are calling the death of Lynette Fay Pearse “suspicious,” but weren’t sure Wednesday whether she died due to a criminal act.
Pearse, 66, of Midvale, was found dead in a second-story room at a Motel 6, 7263 Catalpa St., on Tuesday just before 1 p.m. Her body was discovered by a housekeeper, said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.
The woman showed no obvious signs of trauma, Gray said. Detectives hope an autopsy by the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death.
Police have not said whether Pearse was the person who rented the motel room, whether the room was in another person’s name or if anyone else was with her.
Pearse’s criminal history includes several misdemeanor crimes over the past 10 years, mainly for shoplifting.
