SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake Central Station has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package nearby Thursday morning.

The package was found in the Greyhound bus station at 300 S. 600 West about 10 a.m., according to Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky. The bus station — which is part of UTA’s Intermodal Hub, along with the Salt Lake Central Station — was evacuated at 11 a.m.

UTA police investigated the package, and the area was "cleared to proceed" just before noon, Arky said. He did not know what the package looked like or why it was deemed suspicious.

Commuters should expect minimal delays on UTA transportation.

Arky was not sure if Greyhound buses were still running as scheduled or whether the evacuation at the Greyhound station had ended.

No other details about the situation were immediately available.
