(KSL News) Several organizations want to help parents make sure Halloween turns out to be fun.
Susan Thomas with the American Red Cross offered some tips to keep children safe.
Costumes
- Wear light-colored clothing/reflective clothing
- Use face paint not masks
- Avoid long, baggy, loose costumes
- Keep costumes away from open fires/candles
Trick-or-treating
- Carry a flashlight
- Visit well-lit homes
- Only accept treats at door
- Have adult inspect candy
- Plan your route
- Go with an adult
- Watch for cars
- Cross street only at corners
