WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are looking for two vehicles in relation to a shooting near a home that left one man dead and two others injured early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting near 5625 West and 4360 South shortly after midnight, according to West Valley Police Lt. Shane Matheson.

“Upon arrival, our officers located several shell casings and blood in the roadway,” Matheson said.

Soon after, police located two juveniles. One suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and another suffered a laceration on the wrist. Police learned Neko Jardine, 19, was dropped off at a hospital. Matheson said the person suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.

“The victim was taken into surgery right away, so our officers and detectives weren’t able to talk with him,” he said.

West Valley City Police tweeted just before 7:30 p.m. that Jardine had died.

The two juveniles, whose ages were not released, are expected to recover.

Matheson said all three were in the house when individuals in two vehicles showed up and started a confrontation before approximately a dozen shots were fired. Detectives aren’t sure why the people showed up at the home.

“The three victims were at that residence just enjoying their evening when two suspect vehicles showed up at the house and started a confrontation where everybody ended up outside in the roadway, where the shots were fired,” he said.

Police were searching for a white Ford Mustang and red or maroon Nissan Altima in relation to the shooting. Both vehicles sped off after the shooting, Matheson said. Police didn’t have any other suspect information, as of Sunday.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting, but some cars parked on the street received damage from gunshots.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call West Valley police at 801-840-4000.
