SALT LAKE CITY — One person was shot in the buttocks following an argument outside a West Valley City apartment that led to a brief police chase, authorities said.
The chase originated as an argument near 2500 S. Lakecrest Drive, according to a tweet from West Valley City police. It ended near 1800 S. Redwood Road, police said.
Police received reports of shots fired and a black BMW leaving the scene as they were responding to the call about the argument, according to the tweet.

An officer quickly found the car and tried to pull it over, but the car fled. There was a brief pursuit that ended near 1800 S. Redwood Road when the car blew a tire, police said.
Four men were inside the car, and the front passenger had a gunshot wound to the buttocks, police said. His injury was not life-threatening and he was transported to a nearby hospital, according to West Valley City Police Lt. M.T. Johnson.
The other three men were taken to the police station for questioning, he added.
Witnesses at the Lakecrest Drive address told police another man was in the front yard of the apartment and was arguing with the four people in the BMW, police said. The man fired multiple shots at the car and then fled the scene, witnesses told police.
As of 11 a.m., authorities were still searching for the man who allegedly fired shots at the car. He is described as a black man in his early 20s, who is wearing a red sweatshirt, Johnson said.
Police were still talking to the men who were in the BMW to determine more information about the shooting, Johnson said. He did not identify any of those men.
It is not clear how the men in the BMW are connected to the suspected gunman, or why they were arguing, Johnson said.
