SALT LAKE CITY — Mother Nature continues her undefeated reign at the Utah High School Activities Association state baseball tournament.

Thunderstorms in Utah and Salt Lake counties backed up several games at the Class 5A and 6A state baseball tournaments from the past few days, forcing a few location and venue changes.

The 5A tournament will be played through Thursday at Cate Field at Salt Lake Community College, 3491 W. Wights Fort Road in West Jordan. That includes the winner's bracket final between Cottonwood and Jordan, with first pitch currently scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday (weather permitting).

"We are doing our best at evaluating each of venues and will play as soon as they are playable," UHSAA executive director Rob Cuff told KSL.com. "It has been one of those springs."

The loser will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between Timpanogos and Skyridge/Maple Mountain immediately following, or at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the one-loss bracket final.

The state championship is still scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at UCCU Ballpark at Utah Valley University in Orem. All games are weather permitting.

In 6A, Fremont will play Lone Peak in a one-loss bracket semifinal Thursday at 10 a.m. The winner will advance to face the loser of the winner’s bracket final between Syracuse and Pleasant Grove, which is tentatively scheduled for noon.

The final game Thursday will be played at approximately 3 p.m. MT at Utah Valley. The state championship will be contested Friday at 1:30 p.m. at UCCU Ballpark, as well.

The same severe weather prompted the postponement of the state softball tournament Tuesday and Wednesday. The winner's bracket semifinals, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be played Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m. (weather permitting) at Valley Complex, 5135 S. 2700 West in Salt Lake City. The winners will advance to the winner's bracket final Friday at 3 p.m.

The state soccer championships are currently scheduled to be played Thursday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy. Brighton will face Olympus in the 5A championship at 4:30 p.m., followed by Weber and Copper Hills in the 6A title match at approximately 7 p.m.

All games will be streamed on live.ksl.com. Full coverage will also be available at preps.ksl.com.
