WEST VALLEY CITY — A 15-year-old boy suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head inside a West Valley home Tuesday morning and another boy was arrested in connection to the shooting.

Police were called to a house, 1347 W. 2320 South, about 12:45 p.m. Marquez Grajeda, who did not live at the house, was shot in a bedroom inside the home, West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday evening for investigation of criminal homicide, West Valley police said on Twitter.

"It is suspected at this time that the shooting was not intentional," police said.

Few details were released as police collected evidence. Vainuku said everyone believed to be involved in the incident were accounted for and said there were no outstanding suspects.

"There were multiple people inside the room at the time of the shooting. We are interviewing them as well as authoring a search warrant for evidence at this time," according to police.

Police did not initially know where the gun came from.

There were several adults and juveniles in the house at the time of the shooting, Vainuku said. Police believe others may have witnessed the incident.

Correction: In an earlier version, West Valley police said a 14-year-old boy was booked for investigation of negligent homicide in connection with the fatal shooting. The agency later clarified he is under investigation for criminal homicide.
