SALT LAKE CITY — The 64-team, five-on-five Basketball Tournament announced regional sites for the 2019 summer season, and former BYU guard Jimmer Fredette and Team Fredette will host one of them in the Salt Lake Valley.

Team Fredette will host the Salt Lake City regional at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, beginning July 25-27. The four regional quarterfinal games begin Thursday at 3 p.m. MDT, with the regional final set for Saturday at 7 p.m. MDT.

Tickets are available on thetournament.com.

Team Fredette is composed of former BYU stars and ex-teammates of the club's namesake that will compete in its third TBT. The team advanced to the national semifinals of last year's $2 million, winner-take-all tournament broadcast on ESPN.

Other players on the roster include former Provo High and BYU standout Brandon Davies, BYU alum Charles Abouo and ex-Idaho standout Jeff Ledbetter, among others.

Teams comprised of Utah and Utah State alums have also entered The Basketball Tournament, as well as a Utah-based team made up of military veterans known as Utah Valor.

"I would just like to say how excited I am that TBT will be going to Salt Lake this year," Fredette said in a statement. "I know my guys on Team Fredette are thrilled to have the opportunity to play in front of some of the greatest basketball fans in the world.
TBT is definitely gonna be a can’t-miss event this summer, and fans can expect to see an explosive, aggressive roster full of hungry talent with Team Fredette."

The other eight regional sites are Columbus, Ohio; Lexington, Kentucky; Greensboro, North Carolina; Memphis, Tennessee; Wichita, Kansas; Syracuse, New York; and Richmond, Virginia.

"One of the things we've tapped into is the passion college basketball fans have for their former players," TBT founder and CEO Jon Mugar said in a statement. "We've also found that visiting teams have had a blast playing in front of raucous crowds cheering against them. This year’s regional hosts include some of college basketball’s most passionate fan bases."

Championship weekend begins Thursday, Aug. 1, in Chicago, with the tournament final scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. MDT.
