SALT LAKE CITY — President Donald Trump appointed Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders on Thursday.

Reyes, a Republican, is among 12 people named to the commission Trump re-established to work with federal agencies to improve the health, education and economic status of Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities.

Reyes' father is of Filipino and Spanish descent, while his mother is of native Hawaiian and Japanese descent.
