LAYTON — Evacuations and street closures were in place in the northeast portion of Layton due to gas leak, city officials report.
Officials identified the gas leak area about 10 p.m. and blocked the storm drains to prevent migration, according to a tweet from Layton City.
Twenty-one homes near the intersection of 2550 East and 3300 North, as well as Mountain View Baptist Church, were under an evacuation order as of 9 p.m. Tuesday due to a natural gas leak that migrated into the storm drains, said another tweet from the city shortly after 8:30 p.m.
Officials were in the process of lifting evacuations for some of the homes. Shortly after 11 p.m., Layton City officials said via Twitter that the evacuation was lifted for 2550 East.
Several street closures were also in effect in the area. The public is asked to stay away until the situation is resolved.
