SALT LAKE CITY — KSL TV will switch frequencies late Saturday, meaning viewers who watch TV with an antenna will need to hit rescan to be able to watch the channel.

The change is the result of a previous Federal Communications Commission auction that was held to provide more bandwidth for wireless broadband services. Many stations began switching to new frequencies in 2018 and that process will continue through spring 2020, according to The National Association of Broadcasters website.

That change will occur late Saturday night for KSL TV, meaning most viewers who don’t rescan will not receive the channel starting Sunday. Anyone who rescans Saturday before the change will likely have to again Sunday.

Rescanning is free and doesn’t require extra purchases. To rescan, people should select “scan” or “autotune” from their TV or converter box control menu and the TV will do the rest.

Anyone with difficulties can find helpful instructions on "menu" or "set-up" buttons on their remote.

Those who use an antenna are encouraged to rescan regularly and may find channels they didn't know were missing if they hadn't rescanned in awhile.
