VERNAL — A wildfire that began Saturday afternoon about 20 miles north of Vernal has consumed 519 acres and was about 10 percent contained, according to Utah Wildfire Info officials on Sunday evening.

No road or campground closures have resulted from the blaze, dubbed the Pine Ridge Fire, and containment lines built by firefighters late Saturday held overnight and crews reported good progress Sunday afternoon.

Multiple ground crews are battling the blaze. Fire authorities reported the most active fire area was just east of Sawtooth Ridge. The fire currently poses no threat to homes or structures in the area.

According to fire zone mapping Sunday afternoon by a GIS specialist, the fire has burned 454 acres on BLM land, 51 acres of private land and 14 acres of U.S. Forest Service land.
