CLEARFIELD — Police on Monday identified a Layton man who died after he was caught in machinery at an agriculture manufacturing business over the weekend.
Clearfield police said Jeffrey Pead, 38, died from injuries suffered in the accident at PolyExcel in the Clearfield Freeport Center about 12:10 p.m. Saturday.
Emergency crews responded to a report of an accident at the business and extricated Pead from the machine. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The death remains under investigation, but police said they believe it was an accident.
The Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called in to help assist in the investigation.
