(KSL News) Abandoned animals in West Valley City will soon have a new place to call home. Members of the city's Community Preservation Department broke ground on a 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art animal shelter.

The ceremony even featured appearances by some future residents of the new facility.
The new shelter will more than triple the capacity of the current West Valley animal shelter, allowing for happier and healthier animals.
