An Ogden teenager and a baby are in critical condition today after being hit by a car.

The 14-year-old girl was pushing the baby in a shopping cart across 300 North at Harrisville Road last night when a car hit them. Witnesses say the baby flew out of the cart and over the top of the car.

A woman who lives nearby, Mary Pundt, said, "It just made me sick when I heard it was a young girl with a baby. It just sickens you. Then you don't sleep because about four years ago there was a little girl that got killed in this same area."

Police say the girl was trying to cross in an unmarked area, and the driver couldn't see them.

Neighbors say the road is extremely busy and poorly lit and cars often travel too fast in the area.
