BEDMINSTER, N.J. — Mitt Romney told reporters Saturday he and President-elect Donald Trump had a "far-reaching" conversation about foreign affairs, but the 2012 GOP presidential nominee did not give any hints about whether he was offered or would accept a role in Trump's administration.

Romney, who met with Trump in Bedminster, New Jersey, has been floated as a potential choice for secretary of state.

"We had a far-reaching conversation with regards to the various theaters in the world where there are interests of the United States of real significance. We discussed those areas and exchanged our views on those topics," Romney said in brief remarks after the meeting.

"A very thorough and in-depth discussion in the time we had, and I appreciate the chance to speak with the President-elect and look forward to the coming administration."
