WEST VALLEY CITY β€” Community members poured out their support after the death of West Valley police officer Cody Brotherson early Sunday.

Brotherson, 25, was struck by a vehicle and killed during a pursuit.

West Valley City Police Chief Lee Russo said "just about every police chief" throughout the valley called Sunday to offer support and condolences.

"This man gave his life, so we honor that. This community honors that," Russo said.

Brotherson was engaged to be married at the time of his death.
