BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The University at Buffalo has rewarded football coach Lance Leipold with a one-year contract extension after just one season on the job.
Leipold is now under contract through the 2020 season.
Athletic director Allen Greene announced the move on Wednesday, saying he is pleased with the progress Leipold has made to the Mid-American Conference program. The Bulls got off to a better-than-expected 5-4 start last season and were in contention to win the Eastern Division title before losing their final three games.
Leipold was hired out of Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he had a 109-6 record and won six national championships.
