CHICAGO — Lone Peak’s Frank Jackson will be the first Utahan in 16 years to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
He’s making up for the state’s lost time, too.
Jackson, the Deseret News’ Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Utah player of the year, won the Powerade slam dunk contest late Monday night at the prestigious event at the United Center.
The 6-foot-3 Duke signee made up the one-point difference entering the final round of the dunk contest with a devilish 360-degree jam that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Congratulations to @FrankFjack5 for winning the JamFest at @McDAAG. You represented Utah well on a national stage. pic.twitter.com/2SYUQEPncY

The Lone Peak standout also did a little missionary work, while he was at it.
“I love that his favorite book is the Book of Mormon and he’s from Utah,” former Blue Devil and current ESPN analyst Jay Williams said on the broadcast, before reacting to the dunk.
“Turn off the lights; it’s time to leave. Shut the place down. Let’s shut the place down,” he added.
Jackson and the rest of the nation’s best prep players tip off Wednesday night at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN.
