14-year-old dies after being hit by van, police say

TAYLORSVILLE — A 14-year-old girl died after being hit by a van Saturday night, police said.

The teenager was trick-or-treating with friends when the accident occurred at 2700 West 5930 S. in Taylorsville, according to the Unified Police Department. Investigators said the 14-year-old had just stepped into the crosswalk when she was hit by a van shortly after 7 p.m.

The driver is cooperating with investigators. Police said the driver didn't exhibit any signs of impairment.
