HURRICANE, Utah (AP) — Deputies in southern Utah have arrested a Wyoming man that they say led police on a chase outside Zion National Park. He was arrested after he spoke with police negotiators and surrendered.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say they believe a motorcyclist who was hospitalized in critical condition yesterday shot himself during a traffic stop south of Salt Lake City. The Unified Police Department says officers had stopped 35-year-old Michael Huggard in Midvale when he became confrontational with officers and pulled out a gun. A spokesman says Huggard intentionally shot himself in the head during the confrontation.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a Tooele man died after falling while hiking Mount Nebo in Utah's Juab County. KSL-TV reports that 40-year-old Gregory Bronder fell while crossing a saddle between two of the peaks. Authorities estimate that Bronder fell about 1,500 feet.

HILDALE, Utah (AP) — The reopened public school in a polygamous community on the Utah-Arizona border has nearly doubled in size for its second year.
