FORT DUCHESNE, Uintah County — A man who was killed Sunday in an apparent drive-by shooting on the Uintah-Ouray Indian Reservation has been identified as Sean Lawrence Checora.
Checora, 20, was standing outside a house in the Richardson subdivision about 3:30 a.m. when someone drove by and shot him, according to law enforcement sources. No one inside the house just north of U.S. 40 on 7500 East was hurt, the sources said.
After the shooting, police in several eastern Utah counties were advised to look for an older model black Nissan Maxima with tinted windows and stock rims. There was no word Monday whether the car or its occupants had been found.
In fact, few details have been released about the shooting, which is being investigated by Bureau of Indian Affairs police and FBI agents. FBI spokesman Todd Palmer said late Monday that he had no new information to release about the case.
