PROVO — The open house, cultural celebration and dedication dates for the Provo City Center Temple were announced Tuesday.

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the free, public open house will start on Jan. 15 and run until March 5, 2016 according to a press release.

Visitors may attend the open house every day, excluding Sundays.

The cultural celebration for the temple will take place March 19, 2016 and three dedicatory sessions will take place Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

These sessions will be broadcast at Utah meetinghouses in place of the typical three-hour church blocks.

The temple will be open for ordinances March 22, 2016, according to Kristen Howey with the church's public affairs.

Located at University Avenue between Center Street and 100 South, the temple's exterior is the church's 112-year-old Provo Tabernacle, which burned in 2010.

Thomas S. Monson, president for the LDS Church, announced the temple in October 2011 and construction began in May 2012.
