CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Assembly has unanimously passed a bill allowing terminally ill patients to try experimental drugs. The bill now moves to the Senate. The bill would allow terminally ill patients with less than a year to live to use drugs that have cleared the first phase of testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada senators have passed a bill that would crack down on advertising that can be misleading to Spanish-speakers seeking immigration help. Current law prevents a notary public from using the term "notario" or "notario publico" in their advertisements unless they're also a lawyer licensed in Nevada. That's because the term means lawyer in some Latin American countries, and can lead Spanish-speaking clients to seek legal assistance from people not qualified to provide it.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A bill moving through the Nevada Legislature would allow juries in lawsuits about taxicab crashes to consider whether a passenger was wearing a seatbelt. Existing law requires adult cab passengers to wear a seatbelt, but says a decision not to wear the belt can't be considered negligence in a lawsuit. Bill proponents include cab companies that say it's common sense to allow seatbelt evidence in court.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — New charges have been filed against a couple accused of leaving a pregnant 17-year-old alone in a Las Vegas-area home with a 3-year-old child who died after they moved to California with their five other children. Kidnapping and sexual assault are among the 20 charges filed today against Jondrew Lachaux (lah-SHO').
