SALT LAKE CITY — This holiday season on the Wasatch Front is filled with Christmas concerts everyone can enjoy.

The Piano Guys

Dec. 20, EnergySolutions ArenaThe Piano Guys has become one of the Internet’s biggest sensations from its music videos that match heartfelt renditions of popular songs with breathtaking footage of the pianist and cellist playing in exotic locations. The group tours extensively, and will be playing “A Family Christmas."

The Forgotten Carols

Dec. 3-20, Cottonwood High School“The Forgotten Carols,” written over 20 years ago, has become a holiday staple for thousands of families around the world, and this year Michael McLean will again be performing the classic Christmas tale all over the West with multiple shows in Salt Lake City's surrounding areas.

Christmas with Eclipse

Dec. 11-13, The Grand TheatreFor over 10 years a capella group Eclipse has established itself as not only one of Utah’s biggest a capella acts, but also one of the biggest acts in the country. The group released its second Christmas album two years ago and will be playing its version of upbeat carols at the concert.

Savior of the World

Now-Jan. 3, Conference Center Theater“Savior of the World” showcases the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ according to the accounts written in the Bible. The production features talented actors and musicians, and a beautiful score accompaniment.

Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square featuring Santino Fontana and the "Sesame Street" Muppets

Dec. 11-14, Conference CenterFor the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s annual concert, it will be featuring Broadway star Santino Fontana and children’s television legendary "Sesame Street" Muppets. Fontana has gained celebrity largely because of the character he played in Disney’s smash hit "Frozen." He has also been nominated for a Tony for a Broadway Performance. This performance will mark his second time performing with the choir. For 45 years "Sesame Street" has been one of the leading children’s television shows, and will be singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for the first time.

A Ceremony of Carols

Dec. 22-23, Madeleine Choir School CathedralThe Madeleine Choir School will be performing Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols.” The choir is made up of fifth- through eighth-graders. Britten’s carols are written for a three-part chorus with harp accompaniment. Written in 1942, the carols have since become a staple for choirs during Christmas.

The Christmas Carol Service

Dec. 17-18, 24, Madeleine Choir School CathedralThe Madeleine Choir School will also be performing holiday-favorite carols the week before Christmas Eve as well as Christmas Eve. The performances have become a holiday tradition for many people.

Kurt Bestor Christmas

Dec. 18-20, Abravanel HallLong-time composer and Utah native Kurt Bestor will be playing his annual Christmas concert at Abravanel Hall. Bestor has been composing music for over 30 years and has written multiple scores for films and released 16 albums. He has become well-known for his holiday concerts.

Joy to the World with Pink Martini

Dec. 12-13, Abravanel HallPink Martini was founded by former politician Thomas Lauderdale as a little orchestra that could play at political fundraisers. From that small beginning Pink Martini has become one of the most sought after musical acts in the country. The orchestra has become widely known for its blend of classical, jazz, latin and pop music. It will be joining the Utah Symphony in playing Christmas songs.

Here Comes Santa Claus! (Utah Symphony)

Dec. 13, Abravanel HallUtah’s premiere symphony located in Salt Lake City will be playing its annual Christmas concert Dec. 13. The symphony will be playing all the favorites of the holiday season.

Tuba Christmas

Dec. 6, Madsen Recital HallBYU Arts presents its 35th Annual Tuba Christmas concert. This unique ensemble of tubas, baritone horns and euphoniums draws the curiosity of many. Instruments that are typically known for being in the background and accompanying other instruments are given an opportunity to shine in this holiday concert.

Christmas Around the World

Dec. 5-6, Marriott CenterMore than 200 dancers, singers and musicians will be performing in this year’s “Christmas Around the World,” performed by BYU students as well as local dancers around Utah. The annual show celebrates the diversity of different cultures from around the world in a Christmas performance.

Utah Valley Handbell Ringers

Dec. 1, Provo City LibraryThe completely volunteer handbell ringers have been playing since Karen Eskew-Wyllie founded the group in 1993. The music is made up of ringing a series of bells each tuned to a single note. The holiday season is especially busy for the ensemble.

Utah Chamber Artists: Welcome All Wonders

Dec. 8, Gardner HallSince 1991 Utah Chamber Artists has been one Utah’s outstanding musical ensembles. Comprised of 40 singers and 40 players, the UCA plays a variety of music ranging from the Renaissance to jazz and popular music. Dec. 3 it will be playing its annual Christmas concert.

University Choirs Holiday Concert

Dec. 12, Libby Gardner Concert HallUniversity of Utah’s chamber and a capella choirs will be performing Christmas favorites both new and old. The concert will feature unique arrangements of classic carols and will be directed by Barlow Bradford.

Dec. 15 — Stephanie Mabey

Dec. 16 — Peter Breinholt

Dec. 17 — The National Parks

Dec. 19 — Jay William Henderson

Dec. 20 — The Christmas Trees

Local folk group Lower Lights will be playing a series of Christmas concerts with fellow Utah musicians. Each of the seven shows will feature a different guest artist, but all will display the distinct Christmas song arrangements for which the group has become well-known.
