PROVO — Bountiful High School senior forward Zac Seljaas has signed a National Letter of Intent to join BYU men’s basketball in 2015, the team announced Wednesday.

A 6-foot-7 small forward, Seljaas committed to the Cougars in August 2013 before averaging 18.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists while leading Bountiful to a 4A state title as a junior last season.

"Zac fits our program perfectly as a player and person,” BYU coach Dave Rose said in a press release. “Zac can really score the ball, but is not defined by that. He’s a terrific passer and tough rebounder.”

Seljaas helped the Braves to a 26-1 record overall as a junior and was named to the 4A all-state first team by the Deseret News and the Salt Lake Tribune.

“Zac is very competitive on the defensive end, and understands team defense and positioning,” Rose said. “Zac has had the opportunity to lead his team to a championship at the high school level. He understands what it takes to be successful. I am grateful for Zac's commitment to BYU, and look forward to coaching him."

ESPN.com ranks Seljaas the 58th best small forward in the 2015 recruiting class. Rivals.com rates him as a three-star recruit.

Wednesday marks the first day within the NCAA's early signing period in which members of the class can sign National Letters of Intent.

Rose also announced that Cory Calvert, Nick Emery, Jakob Hartsock and Braiden Shaw will play for BYU beginning in the 2015-16 season after returning from two-year missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
