BOISE, Idaho (AP) — At the forefront of today's Idaho primary election is a closely contested gubernatorial race between two-term incumbent Gov. Butch Otter and state Sen. Russ Fulcher. Like most of the incumbents running for re-election for a statewide post, Otter faces a challenger favored by the tea party. Tea party favorites are also running competitive races for secretary of state, superintendent of public instruction and attorney general.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — State and federal agencies plan to start pushing bison into Yellowstone National Park today in an annual event meant to keep the migrating animals away from cattle in southwestern Montana. Unlike previous years, there is no plan to use a helicopter to assist in this year's efforts. That practice had drawn lawsuits from environmental groups but was upheld in U.S. District court last year.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Two people suspected of robbing a western Idaho bank have been arrested in Lewiston. The arrests were made after Idaho County officials received an anonymous tip about someone matching the description of the robber spending a lot of cash at a casino. The Lewiston Tribune reports officers nabbed Rocky Fisher of Nampa and Jennifer Balfe of Meridian on Sunday.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The oldest active school in northern Idaho's Coeur d'Alene region is set to be torn down at the end of June. Park Elementary School was built in the early 1900s. The name later was changed to Winton Elementary School. The Coeur d'Alene Press it will be replaced by a new building in 2015.
