Lance Bandley ReportingAn Ogden city employee decided his Hummer was too much and got rid of it after complaints that the vehicle was excessive for a public employee. Instead of a Hummer, there is now a 2006 Yukon in Mark Johnson's parking spot.
"I didn't view Hummer as a status vehicle that everyone in the community seems to think it is," says Johnson.
The Ogden Management Services Director says he paid extra for the Hummer. He says he paid out of his pocket for gas and taxes just like he does now with the Yukon.
"I understand that most citizens felt the Hummer looked showy and beyond what a public servant should be driving," says Johnson.
The Yukon, which is similar to what other city employees drive, gets about one to three miles per gallon better gas mileage than the Hummer.
