THE FUTURE — For those who have an unhealthy obsession with “Back to the Future,” which is almost everyone, your patience has paid off. Nike is finally going to make Marty McFly’s self-lacing shoes.

In 2011, Nike released just 1,500 pairs of replica Nike Air Mags that were sold for ridiculous prices to help charity. While those shoes were awesome, there was one problem, they did not have the automatic laces.

Nike designer Tinker Hatfield confirmed in New Orleans during NBA All-Star weekend that self-lacing shoes are on their way.

“Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say yes,” Hatfield said.

Marty McFly's self-lacing shoes coming in 2015

For those of us who are way too lazy to lace up our own shoes, which again is virtually everyone, it's good news that you no longer will have to mess with those pesky laces.

It’s fitting the self-lacing shoes are dropping in 2015, because that just happens to be the year Marty McFly went to the future.

This means two things: We no longer have to worry about the bunny going through the hole or making a loop, and we’re that much closer to a hoverboard.

Get cracking, scientists; time is not on your side.
