PROVO — Star BYU basketball player Tyler Haws served an LDS mission in the Philippines, which suffered a devastating typhoon in November. Now, the Cougars leading scorer is looking to assist those he used to serve through the LDS philanthropies website.
Typhoon Yolanda struck the Phillipines in early November. On Sunday, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged the international community to ramp up aid for the Philippines' typhoon reconstruction, saying "we must not allow this to be another forgotten crisis."
Haws posted a video on YouTube and Twitter that shared his feelings toward the Filipino people and encouraged donations.
We are so blessed this time of year! Please take a minute to watch my video... #philippineshttp://t.co/MfA9PxeD3X — Tyler Haws (@tyhaws3) December 23, 2013
