PARK CITY — Over 51 pounds of marijuana were discovered during a traffic violation stop Wednesday, Park City police said.

A blue VW sedan was stopped for a traffic violation near Coalville by Park City officer Cameron Thor, who was working with the DEA and State Community Services Office. The incident occurred at 7:19 p.m., according to Capt. Phil Kirk.

A K-9 from the SCSO helped him uncover over 51 pounds of marijuana, plus other drugs and paraphernalia, he said.

The driver was identified by investigators as Pancho J. Alviar, 36, of Wisconsin. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession and distribution of drugs into the Summit County Jail.
