SALT LAKE CITY — Since the hottest skier on the World Cup Tour's ruling every mountain, NBC has picked a perfect time to spotlight Park City's Ted Ligety.

"It was pretty neat," Ted told me Thursday morning via Skype from Adelboden Switzerland.

"They followed me around for about two days leading up to the Alta Badia race and they were following me 24/7...it's really cool to have that kind of inside look at ski racing, especially in front of such a big crowd that NBC has."

Ted crushed the competition by more than 2 seconds, winning his 14th GS race of his career, that was his last Giant Slalom World Cup event before this weekend in Adelboden.

"I was really glad that I ended up winning the race because it would've really put a damper on the show if had done poorly...it's cool to check out 'cause it's definitely different from stuff we get to see about ourselves."

Just a year out from the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014, "Shred" Ligety's dominance is occuping plenty of space in his opponents heads. Sweden's Hans Ollson tweeted out "Just in! Marvel Pictures working on new movie about a superhero! It's not The Hulk, Spiderman or Batman. It's about...Ted Ligety."

To which Ligety responded, "It is definitely a cool feeling. I think that's every athletes goal to be at the level where guys think they're unbeatable."

Ted says hi to his friends and fam in Park City, tells me he'll be home next around the end of March.

Remember Ted Ligety's the main man in NBC's "U.S. Ski Team 36" comes your way on KSL 5 (NBC) Sunday at 1:30 MT. Essentially it's a reality show following Ligety for 36 hours around his crushing 2 second win in the World Cup GS in Alta Badia, Italy.

Ligety's also a skilled and entertaining "Tweeter". follow him @tedligety
