OGDEN — A funeral for a young girl who was among the 20 schoolchildren killed Friday in a shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday in Ogden.

The family of 6-year-old Emilie Parker lived in Ogden before moving to Newtown, Conn., for a job. She was among those killed Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Brian Joy, a bishop for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who knows the Parkers, said the family plans to return to Utah on Tuesday in advance of a viewing Friday and a funeral Saturday.

In anticipation of the arrival, hundreds of bows and ribbons were placed all over their old Ogden neighborhood Monday, each Emilie's favorite color.

"Tie pink ribbons and bows around anything standing," Jeane Evans, a friend of the Parker family, told other volunteers.

The volunteers hope the ribbons will show the Parkers they're not alone.

"We're just here to support them and show our love, and appreciate them in a real difficult time," said Richard Evans, also a friend of the family.

Emilie's uncle was among those spreading the ribbons around the neighborhood. He first heard of the little girl's death from his sister, Emilie's mother, Karen Parker.

"I just had a bad feeling. I think she had a bad feeling," Nat Lucas recalled.

According to Joy, services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rock Cliffs LDS Stake Center, 1000 Suncrest Drive. Family members say those plans are still being finalized.
