SALT LAKE CITY — The Mormon Tabernacle Choir now has its own YouTube channel and the hope is to broaden its reach to younger people around the world.
Tuesday, from the Conference Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the "MormonTabChoir" channel was officially launched online.
"This will give everybody an opportunity to hear the great music and the messages that the Tabernacle Choir can share with the world," said choir president Ron Jarrett.
The move to YouTube is being well received by excited college students, and by older choir fans, too.
"Congratulations to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir — truly a national treasure," Tom Brokaw said of the launch. Brokaw will narrate the choir's Christmas concerts this year.
"The music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is now at your fingertips," said choir adviser and LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson.
